Pastor Lynnae

Lynnae was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where her parents were medical missionaries for the American Lutheran Church. While she only lived there for the first four years of her life, her Ethiopian heritage has had a profound effect upon her.

She attended Augustana Lutheran College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and then worked for ten years as a youth minister. In that time she became an Associate in Ministry. Lynnae spent five years as a volunteer missionary for the ELCA Global Missions in Slovakia where she taught English and religion to junior high and high school students. After that ministry she returned to San Antonio where she served as a campus minister at the University of the Incarnate Word.

She entered seminary at the Lutheran Seminary Program in the Southwest, in Austin TX and was ordained in 2004. Her service of ordination occurred on Sept. 19th, 2004 at Abiding Presence Lutheran in San Antonio, TX. Pastor Sorensen’s first Call was with the central Texas Tri-County Cooperative. The Coop included Lutheran Churches in Shiner, Moulton, Prairie Valley, Sublime, Witting, Hallettsville and Weimer.  Her first Call to ordained ministry involved seven Letters of Call!

Pastor Lynnae was Called in February of 2007 as Associate Pastor at Abiding Love Lutheran in Austin, TX. On August 8, 2010, Abiding Love Called her as their Senior Pastor.
